The COP Presidency in Brazil has appointed 30 COP envoys representing various sectors of the economy. Their charge is to intake input from civil society and other stakeholders and translate that input into actionable items for COP decision makers. These appointments do not come with any resources to support the envoys’ time, travel, or other needs. To fulfill her responsibilities as Special Envoy for the Ocean at COP30 – and to ensure that the ocean is fully represented on the road to Belém – the ocean envoy seeking targeted support to enable a compact team and essential resources for communications, travel, convening, and high-level engagement. The goal is to place the Ocean-Climate nexus at the center of climate discussions and deliver a strong, lasting impact between now and December.

Why ODCI: COP 30 represents another opportunity for ocean climate solutions to be further integrated into national climate plans. Many ORCA pillar partners and grantees are working to advance their priorities vis-a-vis the COP, and supporting the Ocean Envoy gives our partners added access to that process.
