Healthy Oceans, Thriving Marine Life & Coastal Communities

Global Philanthropic Collaborative

Oceans 5 is a global philanthropic collaborative that has worked for 15 years to conserve our ocean for generations to come. Grounded in deep expertise and informed by the best available science, we focus on scaling effective solutions in two urgent areas: expanding marine protected areas and ending overfishing.

Our Work

Our work is shaped by a strong record of impact and trusted relationships across the ocean conservation field, enabling us to support politically informed, community-led efforts through agile grantmaking, shared learning, and durable partnerships with governments, funders, local and Indigenous leaders, and civil society.

How We Help

By convening diverse actors and aligning resources around common goals, and by leveraging our access to decision-makers and on-the-ground expertise, we help advance durable policy outcomes that protect marine ecosystems and support resilient coastal communities.

How We Work

Oceans 5’s work elevates ocean conservation as a shared global priority. By leveraging expertise, cultivating inclusive coalitions of advocates and funders, supporting science-based and community-informed strategies, and strengthening policy and political will, we help ensure conservation efforts are inclusive, evidence-based, well resourced, and durable.

Together, these efforts contribute to a restored and resilient ocean that sustains marine life and coastal livelihoods for generations.
